Built around the 1900s but with parts dating back to the 1700s, the manor house had stood empty and part derelict for a number of years until it was purchased a few years ago by current owner, Mark Brennan.

The site has since undergone a dramatic refurbishment as well as a full redevelopment of the stables, barn and outbuildings. It now incorporates 37 ensuite bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, its very own pub, the Pig and Whistle and two function suites, ideal for hosting the multitude of weddings which are booked for the coming months.

The hotel sits in 36 acres of garden and woodland which is used for open air functions, marquee weddings and even for the occasional helicopter landing. It also has its own island which used to be the site of the original manor house, but now provides a perfect spot for outdoor civil ceremonies.

Mark Worley, Director at Christie & Co comments, “The transformation and restoration of the building has been a labour of love for the current owner and he should be commended for the exceptional quality. Although the venue has only traded a short while, turnover for the last six months is £769,000 producing a profit of £154,000. There are already 63 weddings booked for 2017 as well as 19 for the following year.”

Owner Mark Brennan comments, “Being local to Grimsby, Healing Manor is a building I had long admired having formerly been owned by the Portman family as part of a 400 acre estate. As a property developer, I was dismayed at the recent deterioration, so when the opportunity arose to purchase it, I needed no encouragement.

“My life has recently changed direction however meaning I am now reluctantly looking to sell and I am therefore hopeful that a more experienced hotel and wedding operator will capitalise on my investment and take the business to the next level.”
