Private functions venue near Nottingham city centre for sale

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to bring to the market Oscar's, a private events and wedding venue in the Nottinghamshire village of Calverton.

A former public house, Oscar's operated very successfully as a restaurant and bar, and the site has since been comprehensively refurbished and extended. Due to ownership changes, it is currently part of a larger group and has built a successful reputation as a bespoke events venue catering for private events including special occasions, corporate events, Christmas parties, live music nights, and weddings, holding a civil wedding license to host both ceremonies and receptions.

Oscar’s comprises a function room for 80 guests and a bar/restaurant for up to 90 covers, plus a fully fitted commercial catering kitchen, office and beer cellar. There is an enclosed garden to the rear, which has been updated to a high standard, providing seating and a landscaped lawn. Three bedroom owner's accommodation is also included on the site, located on the first floor of the property.

Having nurtured a strong local reputation and benefitting from a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5, the business is well established and ready to be taken on by a new operator. Current owner, Dominic Hayer has run the business for nine years and decided to sell the leasehold interest due to developments and changes in other business interests. He comments, “I have developed Oscar’s into a beautiful facility which now has a strong base for an operator to take on. Fully fitted to a very high standard, Oscar’s offers a multitude of opportunities depending on the type of operator. Calverton is a commuter small town, has a significant number of local villages and housing nearby, and is only 20 minutes away from Nottingham city centre. Due to changes in our other businesses and commitments, the decision has been made to sell the leasehold.”

Gavin Webb, Senior Agent at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, comments, "Oscar's represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced operator to take on a business with a strong reputation and offers significant growth potential. The real opportunity lies in increasing the trading hours and opening the business to the public. Dominic has invested a significant amount in refurbishing the premises and we anticipate high levels of interest."

Christie & Co is inviting offers for the leasehold interest with an annual rent of £42,000.
