The property is in an affluent and desirable suburb of Swansea, close to residential housing and local amenities. The home enjoys a prime position with easy access to the city centre and Swansea Bay and within a short walk of Tycoch Square with a good selection of local shops, cafés and restaurants. Road communications are excellent being within close proximity of the A483 and the M4. Swansea is a thriving city with excellent transport links and a major train station giving it easy access to Bristol, London and the South East.

Pen Y Bryn was formally a large private residence with extensive grounds and manicured gardens. The property has been extended to create a 35-bedroom nursing home set in mature grounds with car parking. Special care has been taken over the years to maintain the original period features and homely atmosphere.

The home has been run by husband and wife team Steve & Debra Clarke, who have operated the business for over ten years. This was the second care home Christie & Co have successfully sold for the Clarkes, the first one Bush house in West Wales. They made the difficult decision to sell their remaining nursing home so that they could enjoy their retirement. Mr & Mrs Clarke comment, “We have enjoyed developing Pen y Bryn Care Home for the past 16 years and proud of the fact that, along with a great team, Pen Y Bryn Care Home now enjoys the reputation it has today. We wish Mr Rahim every success and hope that he enjoys the continued development of such a lovely care home.”

Pen Y Bryn has been purchased by a local operator, Oakcroft Care, who have ambitious plans to expand across South Wales. Managing Director, Shanavas Rahim, comments, "The availability of Pen Y Bryn represented an outstanding opportunity for us to acquire another care home in South Wales. We look forward to working closely with the staff, residents and their families to deliver quality care. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Oliver at Christie & co for his assistance to make this deal happen."

Oliver McCarthy, Business Agent (Care) at Christie & Co, handled the sale and commented, "We are delighted to be a part of Shanavas Rahim’s impressive journey, and we wish them all the very best at Pen Y Bryn Nursing Home and we hope that Steve and Debra enjoy their well-earned retirement!”

“The market for care homes in South Wales is stronger than it has been for many years and we continue to see an abundance of well-funded buyers seeking opportunities in the region.”

Pen Y Bryn was sold off market for an undisclosed price.
