The three pubs are currently run by the Pubs of Distinction group who are looking to come out of the market to concentrate on their other businesses. The Dean Swift was their first acquisition in 2010, The Red Cow was added to the portfolio in 2011 and the Constitution in 2014. The Dean Swift and Old Red Cow have received extensive makeovers and were rejuvenated into local beer houses, a concept focussing on craft beers paired with freshly prepared food. The Constitution retains its original character and remains a heavily wet led site. The ethos of the company is to bring a contemporary flavour to the traditional pub, without losing the “eternal values” associated with the Great British Pub.
The Constitution is one of the few remaining traditional English pubs in Camden. Founded in 1858, it is the last remaining building from the old Agar Town, a short-lived working-class community swept aside by the development of St Pancras station and its rail lines. Its award-winning patio terraced garden (four-time finalist in the “Camden in Bloom” awards) has a very pleasant south-facing outlook over Regent’s canal, with private hire area, outside bar, BBQ and TV area, whilst the downstairs cellar bar is host to regular live music and comedy events.
The Dean Swift, formally known as the Bricklayers, is a popular and welcoming pub situated close to Tower Bridge. The pub is known for offering craft beer and creative food from its single ground floor bar area and a separate upstairs restaurant.
The Old Red Cow is a small but lively pub near Smithfield Market. Also known for its vast array of craft beers which are served on tap and bottled. It is also popular with its patrons for the food on offer especially the Sunday lunch, which has been highly rated in London’s Timeout Magazine.
Stewart Harkness, Associate Director at Christie & Co’s London Office is handling the sale and comments, “This is a unique opportunity to acquire a group of traditional pubs with favourable free of tie leases, that are all achieving good levels of income. We expect good levels of interest, so substantial offers will be needed to make sure the opportunities are not lost to competitors."
The sites are available as a group or individually on leases and offers are now being invited.
