Winner of ‘Best looking Pub in East of Scotland’ and famous locally for its’ floral displays, The Lomond Tavern is well positioned in the picturesque village of Falkland, an attractive and sought-after village which draws a high number of tourists and visitors to the area all year round due to its rich history and and charm.

Falkland is famed as the home of the Falkland Royal Palace. Dating back to the 1500s, the palace is one of the finest examples of French renaissance architecture in the UK and was adored by Mary Queen of Scots. It is also home to the world’s oldest real tennis court.

The village attracts outdoor enthusiasts due to its position at the foot of the Lomond Hills Regional Park, which features some of Fife’s most prominent landmarks and has over 25 square miles of moorland, lochs and farmland. The Falkland Estate, which was once a hunting ground for Stuart Kings and Queens, is now a working landscape of upland pasture, farm and forest walks.

Today, Falkland is also famous as a filming location for the hugely popular TV series, Outlander. Fans are able to visit the six filming locations and walk in the footsteps of Jamie and Claire, the two main characters.

The Lomond Tavern has come to market as the previous tenant has now retired and the business has closed. Prior to this, the pub performed as a very successful local inn serving the local community and tourists who often travel to visit the village. The Lomond Taern has always been popular for bar lunches and suppers and boasts great reviews on Tripadvisor and Google.

The sale of The Lomond Tavern presents a great opportunity for a new operator to acquire a well-established business in a sought-after village location, that historically performed exceptionally well.

Tony Spence, Christie & Co Negotiator handling the sale comments, “The hospitality sector within Scotland continues to attract potential buyers from all backgrounds who are either looking for a new opportunity or keen to grow an existing portfolio. As Covid-19 continues to cause many problems for the licensed trade, we have noticed a huge surge in operators looking for bar & restaurant businesses in more rural locations such as The Lomond Tavern, as they can benefit from tourists, locals and commuters. We expect to receive a high level of interest in this appealing pub.”

The business is on the marketing with Christie  Co at an asking price of £20,000 premium for the leasehold, with £25,000 annual rent.
