David Carter Pharmacy in Offerton sold by founding owner

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of David Carter Pharmacy in Offerton, Cheshire.

This well-established community pharmacy, which dispenses an average of 3,330 NHS items per month, occupies the ground floor of a two-storey mid-terraced property in Offerton, just outside Stockport.

This sale brings with it many development opportunities, such as scope to grow the Services income - the pharmacy for years only carried out a few MURs and nil NMS, and there are no other Services carried out such as Methadone dispensing, EHC or Smoking Cessation.

The business has been owned by the named founder, Mr David Carter of David Carter Limited, since 1979. Mr Carter, who also owns a pharmacy in Windermere in the Lake District, decided to sell to pursue a well-earned retirement. This is the second pharmacy Christie & Co has sold for Mr Carter in the space of one year.

The pharmacy has been purchased by a first-time buyer who lives in the area and intends to run the business as the full-time pharmacist.

Karl Clezy, Director – Medical at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “This was the second pharmacy we sold for Mr Carter who has owned pharmacies spanning several decades. This pharmacy in Offerton was run by locums for a long period of time and, despite it trading very well, the new owner can further develop the business by increasing the Advanced and Essential Services to help benefit the local community.”

David Carter Pharmacy was sold off an asking price of £300,000 leasehold.
