Specialist property adviser Christie + Co is pleased to announce the sale of Juniper Restaurant in Cotham to experienced chef and first time restaurateur George Livesy and his partner Katherine Craughwell.
Set over two floors with a total of 70 covers, Juniper Restaurant has been a popular eatery in the Bristol community since it opened 14 years ago. Previous owner, Nick Kleiner, was keen to sell in order to focus on his new business venture Sandwich Sandwich, leaving behind a fantastic opportunity for new operators to take over the site.
Whilst this is their first venture, George and Katherine bring with them a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector. George, originally from Derbyshire, has spent several years working alongside some of the top chefs in London including the Roux brothers, Michel Roux Jnr and Dan Cox - the Executive Chef at Fera, Claridges.
Katherine’s previous experience is predominantly front-of-house, most recently working at the White Rabbit in Dalston. She was also recently awarded a WSET qualification.
Whilst both working in London they set up the Bulrush fine dining supper club and it is from this that they are taking inspiration for their new site.
Katherine comments: “We were both keen to move out of London and were drawn to Bristol because of its vibrant restaurant scene. Our intentions are to retain the character of the site but rename the restaurant Bulrush, serving creative modern British food.”
Sophia Sangchi, licensed agent for Christie + Co comments: “It is always great to sell a business to new talent coming into Bristol and with the quality of experience both George and Katherine are bringing to this venture I am confident they will be a welcome addition to the Bristol restaurant scene.”
George and Katherine are currently hard at work preparing the site ready to launch towards the end of October.
