The practice was sold on behalf of the previous principal Tariq Ali. Tariq is a multi-practice owner who was looking to relinquish control and reduce his practice ownership responsibilities in order to focus on delivering quality dentistry in his other sites.
Occupying a desirable location within Bishopbriggs, a popular residential town approximately four miles north of Glasgow city centre, this mainly NHS income dental practice comprises four surgeries and presents the new owner with the opportunity to introduce a varied selection of private treatments. The practice received a high level of interest and in the end was sold to first time buyer/associate working in the practice. This transaction illustrates the strength of the Scottish market and insatiable appetite from banks willing to lend in the sector.
The new owner, Catherine Ferguson, comments, “As a first-time buyer the process felt very daunting, but Paul at Christie & Co was very helpful at leading me through everything and keeping me on track. Their professionalism was exceptional, and they were able to offer me invaluable advice. I am so pleased I made the decision to further my career into practice ownership and look forward to what the future holds.
"Given the favourable demographics of the Bishopbriggs there is a great opportunity to introduce further income streams through private treatments. The practice is associate led so by taking over as owner operator there is a greater profit."
Tariq commented: "I’ve known Paul Graham for a while but this was the first time I’ve used him to broker a sale for one of my practices. Paul and the team at Christie & Co were excellent from the start. They were in constant contact with me throughout the sale and legal process, keeping me fully informed every step of the way. After marketing the practice, it was sold to one of my associates and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. Thanks to Paul and the team who made the transaction as easy as possible. I would recommend them to anyone thinking of selling."
Paul Graham, Christie & Co negotiator handling the sale, commented: Tariq approached me as he was looking to decrease some of his responsibility from ownership in order to focus on his remaining practices. We received a lot of interest from buyers and after a confidential marketing campaign, the business was successfully sold to Catherine Ferguson, an existing associate at the practice. We were pleased to work with everyone involved and wish Catherine every success at her new practice.
Bishopbriggs Dental Practice was sold for an undisclosed sum.
