Located south of The Cairngorms National Park, the hotel had been closed while it was upgraded to a high standard throughout by the former owner Bruce Swan, who placed the business under management as he lives and works in London.

The hotel includes staff accommodation, a lounge bar and restaurant and 10 en-suite letting bedrooms. The business has a good local catchment area and the new owners will be sure re-establish the Glenisla Hotel quickly, benefitting from local and passing trade.

Christie & Co identified numerous interested parties, including operators and residential developers throughout lockdown. Bryan and Isobel Webster proved to be the successful purchasers, at an undisclosed price.

The former owner, Bruce said, “I am very happy for Bryan, Isabel and his family and wish them all the very best for the future.”

Bryan and Isobel are excited to reopen the hotel again and noted, “After eight months of closedown, we are working hard to get the accommodation ready and listed as available. The pub and/or restaurant space is an exciting opportunity to grow the business and we look forward to enquiries from interested parties who would like to take on these ventures.”

Stuart Drysdale, Director in the Hotel sector at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “The Glenisla was very well presented following the upgrading by Mr Swan. As such, minimal spend was required by an ingoing operator which was an appealing sale element. Upon re-opening we are confident the hotel can quickly begin to welcome locals and visitors to the area. The property enjoys a rural location but is easily accessible by road, being only 26 miles from Dundee, and a few miles east of the A9 trunk road. We wish Mr and Mrs Webster all the best with their new venture.”
