St Clair Tavern sold for the first time in 30 years

Specialist business property advisor, Christie & Co is pleased to announce the sale of the well-known and popular St Clair Tavern, located in the busy town of Kirkcaldy. This sale marks the end of an era, after 30 years under the ownership of John and Agnes Crombie.

The long-established pub occupies a very prominent trading location to the east of Kirkcaldy’s town centre and harbour areas. It comprises a central bar that dominates the room, a restaurant and function rooms, along with an attractive owners’ flat.

The town of Kirkcaldy lies on the Forth Coast and is often referred to as the “Lang Toun”, meaning long town, in reference to the early town’s main street, which grew to reach a length of four miles. The town has excellent transport links to the main motorways serving Central Scotland, with Edinburgh, Dundee, Perth and Stirling all situated an hour’s drive away.

Tony Spence in the Hospitality sector at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “The business has been in our client's hands for the last 30 years and was on the market due to retirement. The pub has been well looked after but it is strongly felt that new owners who are willing to take a more enthusiastic role in the promotion of the business and facilities on offer will help expand turnover and profitability further. We wish the new owner all the best with their new venture.”

The business has been purchased for an undisclosed price.
