Children’s day nursery in central Edinburgh finds new owners

Registered for 44 children, Meadows Nursery has established an excellent reputation in the local community and with the Care Inspectorate, making it a popular setting among parents. The nursery’s proximity to The Meadows also makes it an attractive choice as one of the few truly open public spaces in the city. Within the park there is a children's playground, a croquet club, tennis courts and cricket pitches.
Acquired in 2004 by the previous owner, Jennifer Hegarty, a qualified primary school teacher, Meadows Nursery was operated by Jennifer and her husband Eamon as part of a group of two, with their second setting, Pilrig Children’s Nursery, located in Leith.
Jennifer and Eamon decided to sell the nursery to enable them to concentrate on one setting, and comment, “Meadows Nursery was our first setting and we have many happy memories. We wish Marilyn and Scott every success taking the business forward.”
Meadows Nursery was purchased by first time buyers, husband and wife team Marilyn & Scott Li. Having worked for other operators while studying for her childcare qualifications, Marilyn was keen to find a setting of her own.
