Christie & Co find new owner for popular Windsor pub
Specialist property advisor, Christie & Co is delighted to announce the sale of the Queen Charlotte in Windsor.
The Queen Charlotte is located in the historic town of Windsor, a few hundred yards from the gates of Windsor Castle, and benefits from a high volume of leisure and commercial trade. The pub is housed in an attractive three storey building which can cater for 60 guests within its open plan bar/restaurant area.
The pub takes its name from the nearby Queen Charlotte Street which is listed as the shortest street in Britain. The venue enjoys good views of Windsor Castle's Henry VIII gate from the outside seating area, which is situated in Windsor's historic centre and is popular with patrons throughout the summer months.
The Queen Charlotte has received a CAMRA accreditation for serving consistently well-kept real ales but is also well known for offering over 100 different gins. Gin&'er gin was an idea born from a collaboration between the pub and Oak Taverns Ltd, a pub company based in Thame, Oxfordshire. Gin&'er gin have their own Guildhall Island Gin (named after the cobbled area in which the pub and Windsor castle is located) and also devised a celebratory gin to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Harry and Meghan.
The new owner, Gareth Dore is experienced in the licenced sector and the Queen Charlotte will become his second property. He plans to build on the work of the previous owner and increase the food offering. He comments, “Windsor is a fantastic town and I am thrilled to be able to take over such a well-known pub in the area. I hope to build on its historical success by adding my own touch to it, working with the great team I have here.”
Tim Widdows, Business Agent at Christie & Co, handled the sale and comments, “We received plenty of interest on the property due its great reputation and strong trading location. We are thrilled for the new owner Gareth and wish him every success in his new venture.”
The Queen Charlotte was sold from an asking price of £135,000.
