Christie & Co sell Essex pharmacy

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold a leasehold pharmacy in Essex. Steve’s Chemist has been trading as a community pharmacy and was placed on the market in 2016.

Owner, Steve Cox is retiring after 27 years of ownership, in which time he has become a fixture in the local community seeing many of his clients as babies through to bringing their own children to the pharmacy. The business has been sold to Mr Aitazaz Raja from Ilford who is planning to build up the service offering from the pharmacy.

Steve Cox comments, “From the start of the process Mark Page and the Christie & Co team filled me with confidence that you were the man to do the job. We had a great response from the marketing and achieved above expectations. I’ve already recommended their services to friends and colleagues.”

Mark Page, Director at Christie & Co adds, “After nearly 30 years of service to the local community we were delighted to help Steve with his well deserved retirement. He was exceptionally well thought of in Grays with the pharmacy having a great reputation. Aitazaz has already integrated himself and his family into the local area and I’m sure he’ll receive the same support and goodwill. We wish him all the very best.”

Specialist commercial finance broker, Christie Finance secured the required finance package for Mr Raja. Gary Boyce of Christie Finance comments, “It has been great to help Mr Raja and his business partners acquire their first pharmacy businesses in the South East. The competitive funding package secured through Christie Finance will provide a smooth transition into the business and enable them to take forward their exciting growth plans.”

The business was sold from an asking price of £695,000 with the marketing campaign generating significant interest and multiple offers.
