Christie & Co sells Ironbridge hotel

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold The Valley Hotel in Ironbridge, Shropshire. The previous owners decided to retire following 28 years of ownership and management at the hotel.

The property is located near the World Heritage site, the Ironbridge Gorge which takes its name from the famous Iron Bridge that was built there in 1779. The area is a popular tourist destination, described as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution.

The award-winning hotel is situated in a picturesque woodland setting on the River Severn, boasting 44 bedrooms with planning consent for a further 27 bedrooms. The site benefits from a strong corporate, tourist and wedding trade with easy access from the M54 and only a short drive from Telford Town Centre.

New owners Mr and Mrs Hayer plan to refurbish the reception and bar areas and look forward to hosting weddings and corporate events from their two suites.

Charles Jones, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Birmingham office, comments; “I’m delighted to announce the sale of The Valley Hotel. This is a fantastic purchase and I wish the purchaser the best of luck.

“Over the last two years, Christie & Co has witnessed a significant amount of interest in Shropshire and the surrounding areas and I expect this to continue as more buyers from London look for better value for money.”

Christie & Co sought offers in excess of £3m.
