Corporate super-pub sold to local operator through Christie & Co

The Sundial located in South Shields, Tyne & Wear has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

The former Greene King managed house was bought by a local, multi-site operator who plans to continue its use as a pub with significant refurbishment planned over the coming months.

The pub sits on the sea front at South Shields and is popular with tourists and locals alike; being situated nearby to Ocean Beach Pleasure Park and South Marine Park which are both extremely busy attractions in the summer months. Formerly trading under the ‘Hungry Horse’ concept, the pub specialises in great value family food and drinks, offering plenty of entertainment facilities including pool tables, darts, and a children’s soft play area.

The open-plan lounge and bar can accommodate upwards of 185 guests whilst the substantial patio area to the front of the property can seat 132. The property also boasts a function room with a capacity to hold 170+ with a balcony area with spectacular sea and beach views.

New managers, Norman & Emma commented; “The pub will be rebranded as ‘The New Sundial’ but will be running as normal, with all functions and previous bookings honoured. We are also taking bookings for Christmas parties, Christmas Fayre and Christmas Day, and a refurbishment is planned for January 2018.  If you’re in South Shields, do pop in for a drink – we’d love to see you!”

David Cash, Business Agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale comments; “The Sundial is a well known pub in the area and we immediately received interest from a number of local and regional multi-site operators. It is always satisfying to see pubs sold for ongoing use and I wish Tony Singh and Managers, Norman & Emma the best of luck in making a success of The New Sundial.”

The Sundial was sold off an asking price of £725,000.
