Ideally located in the market square, Drewsteignton Village Stores benefits from the high levels of footfall and is also well regarded by the local community.

The store has been at the heart of the community for over 200 years and had been owned and operated by the Maynard family for 45 years. Mr & Mrs Maynard decided to sell the store following the decision to pursue retirement.

New owners and first time entrants to the sector, Mr & Mrs Payne look forward to carrying on the hard work that the previous owners have put into the business and plan to introduce a wider offering to enhance the experience for customers. Mrs Payne comments, “We were set on this store from the moment we laid eyes on it. William Trott, Business Agent at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “Since the store’s initial launch to the market, it took us 12 weeks to find a buyer. Mr & Mrs Payne were highly motivated to acquire the site and we wish them all the best in their new business venture.

“Buyers in the South West continue to look for village stores in high profile locations, such as Drewsteignton, where there is a more personal touch to retailing, and the sale of Drewsteignton Village Stores reinforces the continued trend.”

Drewsteignton Village Stores & Post Office was sold off an asking price of £390,000.
