Exminster care home sold as group rationalises with further sales

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold Spurfield House in Exminster near Exeter on behalf of Guinness Care & Support.

Having closed earlier this year, it has been acquired by a specialist care home operator from Torquay who plans to invest in the property and reopen it as a care facility in 2017.

The site, which stands in a sizeable plot located close to the centre of the village, is a detached period property and was previously registered to provide accommodation for 13 people.

Commenting on the sale, Simon Harvey, Director in Christie & Co’s Exeter office says, “We are delighted to be able to assist Guinness Care & Support in their strategic business review with the sale of Spurfield House, having received several offers for the site.

“We are seeing a large amount of interest in all of the homes that we are marketing in the South West on a going concern basis and with others ongoing, look forward to being able to announce more new owners for these homes in 2017.

“We wish the new owners well with their refurbishment and future plans for Spurfield House.”

Christie & Co has been instructed to market the remainder of the Guinness Care & Support care home portfolio which comprises a further six homes based in Exeter, Tiverton, Paignton and Kingsteignton near Newton Abbot.
