Former church in Heywood set to open as children’s day nursery

The leasehold of a vacant premises located in the sought-after location of Hopwood, Heywood in Oldham, Greater Manchester has been sold to children’s day nursery operators through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

The former Heywood Evangelical Church is an impressive, detached Victorian property enjoying a prominent position along a busy commuter road, less than six miles from Manchester City Centre. The unique site offers approximately 4500sqft of useable space and was available to let for alternative use.

The owner of the site, Mr Manzoor, had the view that the property would lend itself perfectly to a children’s day nursery, as offering childcare provision would mean that the locally renowned premises would retain its ‘community spirit’. Mr Manzoor comments, “Christie & Co was a pleasure to do business with, they not only find you genuine interest, but also make an extra effort to understand your requirements. Sofia was great, a real gem, always at hand when we needed her advice."

Christie & Co were instructed to find the right business to fully utilise the site, which has now been leased to existing nursery operators Ibrahim and Zeenat Lulat, directors of Willow Tree Day Nursery Ltd. They comment, “Thank you very much to Sofia who found us a property which perfectly fits with our current setting. We had been looking to expand for a long time however could not find the right nursery to suit our vision until we were introduced to Hopwood House which we believe will offer huge scope and potential for us. We look forward to working with Sofia and Christie & Co again in the future as we continue to grow our business.”

Sofia Beck, Business Agent at Christie & Co handled the disposal and comments, “I am delighted to have been able to assist with this transaction and feel that it has been an excellent result for both landlord and tenant. I am sure that Ibrahim and Zeenat will build a fantastic nursery at this stunning site and that this is the start of a budding portfolio for the husband and wife team.

“Vacant leased property opportunities are becoming more and more popular with nursery purchasers. The prospect of a setting up a nursery from scratch offers a blank canvas of opportunity for an operator and doesn’t require a large upfront payment which is sometimes difficult to come by.”
