Guest house in North Yorkshire seeks new owner through Christie & Co

The Castle House, a charming Grade II listed guest house in the North Yorkshire market town of Richmond, has been brought to the market through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Located on a quaint, cobbled street in the town centre, The Castle House occupies a three storey building, parts of which date back to the early 18th century, including original features such as exposed wooden beams. The public areas include a breakfast room and residents’ lounge, and the letting accommodation comprises The Richmond Suite, The Redmire Room, The Aysgarth Room, The Wensley Suite and The Easby Room, all of which are presented to a high standard and have en suite facilities. Additionally, spacious owner’s accommodation is featured on the site which includes three double en suite bedrooms, a lounge and large kitchen.

Situated near the Yorkshire Dales and home to the famous Richmond Castle, Richmond attracts a high number of visitors year round. The Castle House enjoys a central location in the popular town, ideal for visitors and tourists looking to explore Richmond and the surrounding area.

Current owners, Lucy Rawlins and Ian Mellish, opened the doors of The Castle House after completing extensive renovations to this beautiful Georgian town house. Over the last six years, the business has grown and become a thriving and reputable boutique B&B, but they have now decided to put The Castle House on the market due to personal reasons.

David Lee, Regional Director – North East at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “The Castle House has been operated by Lucy and Ian for the past six years. One of the best of its type in the area, the guest house has been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence five years running since 2014.

“The business is currently closed six weeks out of the year and employs a team of staff, presenting a new owner with the opportunity to take a more hands-on approach and increase turnover by incorporate some or all of the owner’s accommodation into additional letting accommodation.”

The Castle House is being marketed off an asking price of £650,000 for the freehold interest.
