Built in 1871, the hotel offers eleven luxurious en suite letting bedrooms with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Decorated with original period features and contemporary furnishings, each bedroom is named after one of the many great writers and poets who have been inspired by the Lake District’s beautiful landscape, most notably, poet William Wordsworth.

A magnet for literary sightseers, the Grasmere Hotel has welcomed travellers from near and far to the area for a number of years. The hotel has consistently been featured in the Good Hotel Guides and has achieved numerous Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence awards, having been described as a “haven of peace.”

The property oozes both character and warmth, with secluded lawned gardens stretching down to the River Rothay. Numerous walks start from the doorstep of the hotel, and the likes of Ambleside and Windermere are only a stone’s throw away.

The property also included a three bedroom owner’s cottage and a gorgeous conservatory restaurant overlooking the garden.

Tom O’Malley, Business Agent in Christie & Co’s Manchester office who handled the sale comments, “The Grasmere Hotel came to the market confidentially and with a strong business in a superb location, it was only a matter of time before a buyer was found and the deal was completed.”

The Grasmere Hotel was sold off a guide price of £1,895,000.
