New owner for outstanding lifestyle business in Wiltshire village

The highly profitable and well established Central Stores & Post Office, situated in the heart of the affluent village of Winterslow, eight miles from the cathedral city of Salisbury, has been sold through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Refurbished and extended to a high standard in 2014, the shop comprises a large retail area to the front and a post office counter to the rear. Central Stores offers a broad range of services and convenience goods, including locally sourced fresh produce and bakery goods, newspapers and magazines, a coffee machine, tobacco, and off licence, in addition to onsite banking, National Lottery and supply gas bottle refill services. Additionally, the property is accompanied by a detached holiday rental cottage with a private patio and garden, which benefits from high occupancy rates throughout the year.

Previous owners, Michael and Beverley Thomas are now looking forward to a well earned retirement and handing over the reins to first time operator, Dr Garcha and his family. Dr Garcha comments, “My family and I are looking forward to relocating to Winterslow and being part of the village community. The business presented an outstanding lifestyle opportunity and we are very excited with our new venture.”

Tom Glanvill, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Winchester office comments, “I am delighted to have handled the successful sale of this profitable village store which was sold as a going concern with the staff remaining with the business. I wish the new owners, Dr and Mrs Garcha the very best in their new venture.

“The high level of interest we received in this store demonstrates the robustness of the market for convenience stores and the importance of small businesses to the local community and economy.”

Central Stores & Post Office was sold off a freehold guide price of £950,000.
