New owner sought for Spar convenience store in Powys town

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brought to the market a Spar branded convenience store situated in Knighton, Powys.

Located in the heart of the small market town, the store offers a range of products, including chilled and frozen goods, household items, and fresh fruit and vegetables, along with a deli counter with food to go provision, an off license and National Lottery services. The property also comes with owner's accommodation included.

Situated near to Offa's Dyke, a popular walking trail along the border of England and Wales, and The Spaceguard Centre, an internationally renowned observatory, the area is popular with walkers and tourists and sees a high level of footfall.

The current owner, Lee Chapman, is looking to sell the store in order to retire and comments, “It is time for new owners to take over the store, as my family retires from retail in Knighton after more than 25 years in the town. We’ll be sad to see it go, but the store does offer a real opportunity for others to build on.”

Stephen Bell, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, comments, "This is a great store for a first-time buyer from anywhere in the UK or someone looking to add a second store to their existing portfolio. The property prices in this area make for excellent value for money and when compared to a freehold in areas like London, Birmingham or Manchester, and a buyer will be getting a lot of shop for their money, thus increasing the return on investment. With the benefit of some investment into the store, there is plenty of opportunity for a buyer to increase both turnover and profit."

The business has been brought to the market at an asking price of £225,000 for the freehold interest.
