New owner takes over the Yellow Warbler café in Stoke Newington
The Yellow Warbler, an independent, neighbourhood speciality coffee shop, located in Stoke Newington, has been sold through Christie & Co to a first time buyer with extensive experience within the hospitality trade.
The business trades on the ground floor, with seating for around 20 guests. The cafe offers speciality coffee, hot drinks and fresh cakes baked daily using the finest organic ingredients.
Opened in 2014, Yellow Warbler is well established and has achieved a multitude of positive reviews and recommendations on various coffee and food blogs. Featured in the London Coffee Guide and London's Best Coffee, the café has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Mayor of Hackney Business Awards and the Dot London Business Awards.
Previous owners, Alan Thompson and Mini Brar-Thompson decided to sell the business so that they could concentrate their efforts on a newly bought business in Wapping. They comment, “We spoke to numerous agents in London whilst deciding to market our business and although Christie & Co are more expensive, you pay for what you get – we had a perfect buyer within two weeks of marketing! Stewart Harkness was super proactive and kept us up to date at all times and we loved working with him. I highly recommend them. We’re sad to let our business go but know that the buyer will do it justice.”
New owner, Stewart Graham, has many years of experience in the hospitality industry and hopes to continue on with the already established trade and comments, “I’m really looking forward to building on the solid foundation that Alan and Mini have built. Maintaining the loyal customer base whilst also attracting new clientele is an exciting challenge. I can’t wait.”
Stewart Harkness, Associate Director at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, “We had some good levels of interest for this opportunity and accepted an offer within two weeks of marketing. I am looking forward to seeing Stewart take the business forward and continuing serving quality coffee to the local community and wish Alan and Mini all the best with their new venture.
“The sale and success of this business shows that there is healthy demand and value in London for local, neighbourhood hospitality offerings amongst the chain venues which comprise our high streets.”
The Yellow Warbler was sold off an asking price of £39,950 for the leasehold interest.
