Restaurant in Greater Manchester seeks new owner

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brought to the market the Corner House, a prominently located destination dining venue in Wrightington, near Wigan, Greater Manchester.

The restaurant occupies a two storey detached property with a one storey extension to the rear. A large central bar and trading areas are situated on the ground floor, with seating for approximately 120 covers across four sections, one of which can be sectioned off for private functions. Externally, the extensive grounds provide outdoor bench seating for 60 guests and parking for 70 vehicles. On the first floor, there is spacious three bedroom apartment with a lounge and kitchen that is currently used as owner’s accommodation, but would work equally well as letting accommodation.

Following seven years of ownership, current owner, Ross Lawson is looking to sell the business in order to pursue a well-deserved retirement and comments, “The Corner House has been a great business to run and being located on a busy road near to the M6, we benefit from a high volume of passing trade. We’ve cultivated a fantastic reputation for fresh, quality food and the regular classic car meetings we hold in the car park result in plenty of restaurant bookings.”

Tom O’Malley, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “New residential builds to the local area are expected to have a positive impact on trade, as footfall and passing trade look to grow. There are also numerous opportunities to further drive revenue through events, such as food festivals, tasting evenings and theme nights, as well as through greater investment in promoting the business. The Corner House is a great business for a new owner to build upon, and we expect that the site will drive significant interest from a wide variety of potential purchasers, including an owner operator or regional operator.”

The freehold of Corner House is on the market at an asking price of £995,000.
