Rocking Horse Day Nursery under new ownership through Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has brokered the sale of Rocking Horse Day Nursery, situated in Audenshaw, Tameside in Greater Manchester. This charming and unique setting has been sold to growing national nursery group operator, Storal Learning.

Offering 106 registered places, the nursery operates from an impressive four storey converted and extended former residential property which boasts a rear stable building, connecting conservatory and exceptional outdoor learning environment.

The nursery was established 27 years ago by the now previous owners James McGarr, Jenny Rossington and Beverly Rossington. Through their dedicated passion and hard work, they have built an exceptional business with a superb local reputation, enjoying consistently high occupancy and excellent income and profit. The three took the decision to sell the nursery to Storal Learning after building a strong relationship with the two directors Ashwin Grover and Varun Chanrai and sharing a similar ethos.

Mr McGarr comments, “From Jenny, Bev and I, a huge thank you to the staff, children and parents who have been connected to Rocking Horse Nursery. We have cared for over 2,000 children, helping them on their early steps in life and it has been an incredible journey for all involved. We are confident that handing over the reins to Ashwin and Varun, two very dedicated gentlemen, will be a very positive move for Rocking Horse. I would like to thank Christie & Co, especially Sofia Beck for her help, guidance and professional approach throughout the selling process."

New owners Ashwin Grover & Varun Chanrai of Storal Learning comment, “We are very grateful to Sofia for connecting us to James, Jenny and Beverly. Their passion and drive to deliver only the highest quality childcare was clear for all to see and resonated strongly with our philosophy at Storal. Rocking Horse is an exciting nursery and we hope to build upon the great legacy left to us.”

Sofia Beck, Business Agent – Childcare at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, adds, “I’m very pleased that we were able to assist James, Jenny and Beverly with the sale process. Selling was a very difficult decision for the owners, particularly Jenny and Beverly having worked in the nursery all those years. It was great to see that they felt comfortable handing the business over to Storal Learning and are confident that their much-loved team of staff will be looked after.

“This transaction is yet another example of how active the children’s day nursery market currently is. High quality, private settings with strong financial performances are achieving exceptionally attractive sale prices this year. This has been driven by corporate buyer acquisition activity and an increase in existing single and dual site operators looking to expand to build a small portfolio.”
