Romney Marsh inn welcomes new owners

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has successfully brokered the sale of The Star Inn in the Kent village of St Mary in the Marsh, three miles from the bustling town of New Romney.

The traditional pub, which holds a licence dating back to 1711, boasts a 40 cover bar and restaurant and retains charming original features including wooden beams and wood burning log fire. The property also features a good size commercial kitchen, cellar, spacious first floor owners’ accommodation, and a second-floor manager’s flat. Additionally, on the site is a recently renovated two storey cottage annex offering four beautiful letting rooms for those wishing to stay and explore the surrounding Kent countryside.

Surrounded by marshes and opposite the village church of St Mary the Virgin, this rural pub enjoys an abundance of outside space, with a trade garden for over 200 covers and an outdoor bar, private owner’s garden, and car parking for up to 20 vehicles.

Previous owner Tim Leach sold the property as part of his plans to leave the sector after an extensive refurb to parts of the premises.

This characterful property has been sold to first time buyers, Dave and Eleanor Stone, who are looking forward to relocating from Surrey to enjoy Kent village life and getting to know the locals.

James Hughes, Agent at Christie & Co’s Maidstone office comments, “This was a fantastic opportunity to acquire a traditional property in an idyllic location and I was delighted to facilitate the transaction on behalf of Tim Leach, who is now looking to leave the sector.”

Christie & Co sold The Star Inn off an asking price of £675,000.
