Located by the foothills of the Lammermuir Hills, the business takes its name from the river which runs through the town and up the hills, Blackadder Water. Formerly trading as a hotel, the Blackadder was recently refurbished as a restaurant and bar, creating a stylish venue for locals and visitors to the area, and comprises a 50 cover restaurant, bar and private dining room for 20 guests.

On the first floor of the property are three bedrooms, with a further two bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor, none of which are currently in use but could be developed into letting or owner’s accommodation with some investment.

The Blackadder Caravan Park is located just across the road from the venue, providing additional car parking for the patrons, and Hume Castle is located approximately three miles away, both of which attract tourists to the area and drive trade for the Blackadder.

Current owner, Chris Gregg, has owned the business for two years and is now looking to sell the leasehold to focus on his other business interests. He comments, “With our new development plans at, it is time for us to focus on our core caravan park business. We have asked Christie & Co to look for a new operator to take the Blackadder Bar and Restaurant forward. Ideally this would be an organisation experienced in running high quality food destinations, someone who will work with the team and work closely with us and develop the business by maintaining the high standards of food, drink and entertainment that we are used to and enjoy.

"It's been a fun and enlightening two years. We are privileged to have had the opportunity to be involved with such a great team. Pam, Kevin, Scott, Sharon, Vicky, Andrew, Sam, Rachel and Brenda work tirelessly to deliver the highest standards of hospitality, with a welcoming smile.

“In the meantime we will certainly be around for the rest of the summer so you can be assured it will be business as usual and you can continue to have a great experience at the Blackadder Bar and Restaurant. We'd like to thank everyone for their custom, and if you haven't been in yet, it would be great to see you soon.”

Tony Spence, Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Edinburgh office, who is handling the sale, comments, “The business is currently run under management and provides a great opportunity for an owner operator to improve turnover and profitability by increasing the existing opening hours and taking a more hands on approach.

“Hospitality businesses in Scotland, such as the Blackadder, with huge growth potential and located in an area with good tourism trade, remain attractive to a range of parties. As such, we anticipate strong levels of interest in the Blackadder and look forward to seeing what the future holds for this business.”

Christie & Co is seeking offers of £25,000 for the leasehold going concern of the Blackadder Bar & Restaurant.
