Somerset village inn gets new owners through Christie & Co

The Bell Inn at Evercreech, Shepton Mallet, Somerset has been sold by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

The Bell Inn is a well-established and highly regarded freehold public house which features a skittle room and three letting bedrooms. The previous owners, Mr and Mrs Carlton Senior owned the business since 2005 but in more recent years handed the reigns over to their son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Abi. Following the decision to relocate to the Plymouth area, the business has been sold.

Dean & Anna Clarke who previously ran a similar business in Ross-on-Wye, were keen to return to the sector and with the help of funding arranged through Christie Finance, acquired The Bell Inn.

Nick Calfe, Director at Christie & Co, comments, “There is an increasing appetite for pubs which offer family-sized accommodation in addition to letting rooms, as it gives a lot more flexibility to buyers.

“Dean and Anna are a fantastic fit for the Inn and, drawing on Anna’s Russian heritage, exciting plans are afoot to broaden the offering of the business, which will help to grow its reputation both within the village community and with visiting tourists. We wish Dean & Anna the very best in making a success of their new business.”

Gary Boyce, Associate Director at Christie Finance, comments, “Dean & Anna’s drive and experience within the licensed sector sees them perfectly placed to take The Bell Inn forward to the next level.  Through our trusted links with lenders, we were pleased to secure the necessary funding for the purchase and hope to continue to work with Dean & Anna as they develop the business.”
