Suffolk care home sold to existing operator

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has sold Cedar Lodge Residential Home situated in the village of Culford, just north of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

Set on approximately 1.5 acres with extensive lawned areas, the care home is registered for 25 residents. Additionally, the property has an owner’s bungalow with a swimming pool.

Owned and operated by Michael Spendley and his family for over 35 years, Mr Spendley has decided to retire from the care business and comments, “I was particularly impressed by the perseverance shown by Robert Mellamphy at Christie & Co in order to get the sale over the line.”

New owner, Robina Clarke is a highly respected care home operator with many years’ experience in the sector. Mrs Clarke plans to continue to run Cedar Lodge with the current manager and staff, while implementing a significant investment programme.

Robert Mellamphy, Director at Christie & Co handled the sale and comments, "We are delighted to have assisted Mr Spendley in the sale of Cedar Lodge, which clearly demonstrates the continued demand for smaller, family run homes in attractive locations. Robina has an excellent track record in the care sector and we wish her all the best for the future."
