The Hunters Inn, Exmoor, sold to The National Trust

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has completed on the sale of The Hunters Inn, a well renowned inn and wedding venue in Exmoor National Park within the Heddon Valley and close to the stunning North Devon coastline.

Acting on behalf of David Orton who had owned the business the past 13 years, Christie & Co were instructed to carry out an open marketing campaign which attracted interest from first time buyers and experienced operators, resulting in a sale to The National Trust.

Set within approximately four acres of landscaped gardens and grounds, the attractive detached Edwardian property constructed in 1906, has 11 en suite guest rooms arranged over four floors and recently refurbished public areas. The Hunters Inn attracts all year-round custom from the many visitors keen to explore Exmoor National Park, the South West coastal path and the many nearby visitor attractions.

Rob Joules, General Manager of The National Trust, North Devon Coast & Countryside said, “People love this valley and wildlife thrives here. By buying Hunter’s Inn, we can do more to make people’s time here special, and do even more to support the wildlife and habitats that are seeing huge declines elsewhere.”

Matthew Smith, Director at Christie & Co's Bristol office, commented, “We carried out a comprehensive marketing campaign which resulted in interest from a variety of buyer groups and are thrilled to announce the sale to The National Trust. The business is perfectly located for The National Trust to add to their existing portfolio of historic properties and this no doubt represents an exciting time for all staff and customers of the Hunters Inn.

“The buyer pool continues to expand for hospitality businesses in the South West due to a lack of quality opportunities available to satisfy demand buyers who are keen to acquire profitable assets and who are financially proven to deliver within an agreed timeline.”

The Hunters Inn was sold off a guide price of £1,300,000.
