Three premium restaurants for sale through Christie & Co

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to sell The Hub Alehouse & Kitchen and The Refinery, Kitchen Bar & Live Music in Liverpool city centre and Bistro Jacques, a French restaurant in Shrewsbury, on behalf of Bistro Qui?

The Hub Alehouse and Kitchen occupies the ground and lower ground floors of the Grade II listed Casartelli Building in a prominent position at the junction of Duke Street and Hanover Street, ideally situated to benefit from passing trade from the nearby Liverpool ONE shopping centre and Albert Dock. The 280.5 sq m trading area is set across the ground floor and provides seating for 170 covers. It is decorated throughout in a gastropub style, with Cardean timber flooring, and benefits from a light and airy atmosphere thanks to the large full-height windows.

The Refinery, located in one of Liverpool’s principal drinking and dining districts on Hope Street, offers British gastro-style classics in a contemporary open plan restaurant and bar, which can accommodate for 170 covers. The property benefits from a modern glass frontage, rendered walls, polished concrete flooring, and a mix of pendant and recessed lighting. To the exterior, there is pavement seating for a further 80 guests.

Bistro Jacques is located in a high footfall area on one of the main retail and leisure streets within the centre of Shrewsbury, the second largest town in Shropshire, with excellent transport links to surrounding towns. The 287 sq m trading area provides seating for 120 patrons split across the ground and first floors, with Cardean timber flooring throughout. Since opening the business, Bistro Jacques has gained an excellent reputation within the local community for its traditional French cuisine.

Mark Friend, Director of Bistro Qui? comments, “The businesses have operated for over 15 years, having won multiple accolades in that time, including several Liverpool Food and Drink awards. We are selling these businesses with a view to pass the business on to a new operator that has the capacity to grow the three brands nationally. All three brands have proven that they can stand the test of time and develop nationally with the right investment.”

Tom O’Malley, Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale of The Hub and The Refinery and comments, “Whether viewed as a portfolio acquisition or as individual sites, these prime city centre leaseholds present potential purchasers with an unparalleled opportunity to acquire popular, well trading restaurant businesses as a going concern with full management structures in place. With that in mind, we predict that these sites will generate significant interest from a wide array of buyers.”

Joshua Sullivan, Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale of Bisto Jacques and comments, “The business presents itself as an ideal opportunity for an existing operator or a first time entrant into the sector to capitalise on a highly profitable enterprise, which offers a comprehensive management structure. Bisto Jacques has a strong reputation and loyal following for its authentic French offering and commands a strong position in the centre of the affluent and bustling market town of Shrewsbury. Being a popular tourist destination, Shrewsbury is considered to be a honeypot location which draws in a significant number of visitors to the area on a regular basis. Thus, the business benefits from a regular flow of footfall.”

Christie & Co is seeking £750,000 for the leasehold of the The Hub, £295,000 for the leasehold of The Refinery, and £195,000 for the leasehold of Bistro Jacques.
