Traditional pub along Royal Military Canal brought to the market

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co has been instructed to sell The White Horse in Bilsington, a village nestled on the edge of Romney Marsh in the Ashford District of Kent.

Specialising in unusual real ales, ciders and local brews, the traditional pub benefits from a loyal following and is the ideal watering hole for walkers and cyclists navigating the Royal Military Canal, which runs from Folkstone to Hastings.

The White Horse maintains a welcoming and cosy atmosphere with inglenook fireplace, open log fires, wooden beams and double-sided wood burning stoves. Boasting four trading areas, the business comprises a 60 cover restaurant and three bar areas, including the centrally positioned main bar, a quiet bar area and a sports bar with a pool table and darts, as well as a spacious beer garden to the rear which provides bench seating for 60 covers.

An old stable block neighbours the main building and boasts two double en suite letting rooms, furnished to a high standard with a modern twist, while still retaining the stable’s original features, such as exposed wooden beams. Additionally, the property includes owner’s accommodation situated over the two floors of the pub, comprising four double bedrooms and a large lounge.

Following seven years of ownership, the current owners are now looking to retire.

James Hughes, Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale and comments, “The White Horse is a traditional village pub and has the added benefit of a couple of letting rooms. The premises would suit both a newcomer to the industry as well as a multiple operator.”

The White Horse is on the market at an asking price of £599,950.
