When did you join Christie & Co?
28th November 2022, which is, coincidentally, my birthday!
Where were you when you accepted your role at Christie & Co?
At my previous job.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a waiter/barista at a coffee shop in Hull's city centre when I was 16.
In a couple of sentences, can you tell us a bit about your job at Christie & Co?
I look after the sale of pharmacy businesses in the North of England, dealing with a mix of independent and corporate operators.
What’s your favourite thing about Christie & Co?
The flexibility the role offers with a mixture of office, home working, and being out on the road, as well as the trust that is put in employees to complete the task at hand without being micro-managed.
What's a favourite project that you’ve worked on at Christie & Co so far?
Project Echo, which is the project name for the Boots disposals.
What’s been the biggest challenge of your career so far?
Project Echo. Handling the sale of multiple pharmacies to buyers of all shapes and sizes and adhering to strict timescales was challenging yet rewarding.
How has the industry changed since you started at Christie & Co?
The cost pressures that pharmacies are facing have increased significantly since I joined the team. There has also been a large divestment of corporate pharmacies over the past couple of years, with many of these pharmacies going to independent or small multiple operators.
Who in your industry do you feel most inspired by?
The Pharmacists who, despite the significant pressures the industry is facing, still put their patients first and deliver quality healthcare.
Tell us a bit about your life outside work – what are your hobbies?
I recently bought my first house with my partner, which is a ‘doer-upper’, so I have been spending a lot of time doing DIY (not always very successfully). We also rescued a young Vizsla last year who requires a lot of walking, so I enjoy doing lots of different trail walks. I’m a keen cricketer as well as a season ticket holder at Leeds United.
What’s your hometown? Where do you live now?
Born in Beverley and now live in a town called Brough.
Where’s the best place you’ve been on holiday?
A few places spring to mind, but Barcelona always sticks out for me.
What would be your desert island meal?
Roast dinner with all the trimmings and lots of gravy.
What’s your favourite film?
The Damned United.
What is one thing on your bucket list?
To go and watch the Ashes in Australia, which I’m hoping to tick off at the end of this year.
What news source do you read every day?
The Guardian.
