Barchester Healthcare acquires prime care home development site

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of a prime care home development plot in Bath to Barchester Healthcare.

The site is situated in a prominent corner location on the junction of Oldfield Road and Monksdale Road in Bath, only 1.6km from the River Avon, Bath Spa station and the city centre. Following positive pre-application and design discussions with the Local Planning Authority, a planning application was submitted for a 68 bedroom ‘best in class’ corporate style care home design with 100 per cent en suite wetroom facilities and a south west facing secured courtyard garden. Following an initial refusal, the planning application was consented at appeal.

The development was brought forward by specialist developer and Retirement Village Operator, C Squared Property Developments, and has been purchased by Barchester Healthcare, an independent care provider which runs over 260 care homes and seven registered hospitals across the UK.

The home will provide much needed care here in Bath, and a large number of jobs sourced from the local area too. The care development site was sold for an undisclosed price.
