City Road Pharmacy is a well-established standard-hours community pharmacy that dispenses an average of 8,784 items per month. It provides a range of NHS and private services, including Pharmacy First, vaccinations, emergency contraception, and a free delivery service.
The pharmacy occupies a prominent corner position on City Road, on a main road into Bradford city centre. Located on a local shopping parade, it benefits from neighbouring independent businesses helping to drive footfall.
The business has been owned and operated by Rekha Taheem for over 20 years and was brought to market to allow her to retire. Rekha will remain working in the business on a part-time basis for around a year to support the transition.
Following a confidential sales process with Jon Booth at Christie & Co, City Road Pharmacy has been purchased by Siddique Pharmacy Limited, a family-owned business which also operates two branches in Bradford, both within less than two miles of the new acquisition, and two in Halifax. The acquisition supports the group’s ongoing expansion plans, with new owner, Mo Siddique, and his three Pharmacist children, looking to grow their portfolio.
Rekha Taheem, the former owner of City Road Pharmacy, comments, “After over 20 years as a pharmacy contractor serving the local community in Bradford, it was a difficult decision to retire. It is great to see the business moving into the hands of a local family who are experienced operators, and I wish them the greatest of success in taking over the business I have loved for so many years!”
Mo Siddique, owner of Siddique Pharmacy Limited, comments, “We are delighted to acquire City Road pharmacy from former owners, Rekha and Vijay. We are committed to maintaining the same high standard of service they have provided to their customers. We will ensure continuity throughout our ownership while maintaining the trust and relationships they have built over the years.”
Jon Booth, Director – Pharmacy at Christie & Co, comments, “Bradford has historically been a difficult market in which to sell, but our local knowledge and access to the widest buyer pool has meant we now have a fantastic track record of selling within the area. It’s great to see this type of business end up in the hands of a well-established family group where the second generation of Pharmacists are now looking to grow via strategic acquisitions. We wish them all the best and wish Rekha a fantastic and well-deserved retirement.”
City Road Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
