Just 30 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh, the seaside town of North Berwick in East Lothian is at the heart of Scotland’s famous Golf Coast and has long been a popular getaway destination for visitors arriving by car, bus or direct train. The region truly is the mecca of the golfing world, with some 21 unique courses spread along 30 miles of stunning coastline, including championship courses such as Muirfield, Gullane, the Renaissance and North Berwick itself.

The Nether Abbey Hotel (affectionately known as ‘The Nethers’) has become a year-round favourite for visitors from North America, Canada and Scandinavia, as well as from the West Coast of Scotland and all parts of England. It enjoys strong corporate business activity alongside its tourism appeal.

The hotel has 12 beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms; some with views over the Firth of Forth and North Berwick West Links course. The food and beverage offering includes the popular Fly Half Bar and Restaurant, featuring bi-fold doors opening out onto the south facing patio, with seating for 70. The bar is busy year-round with locals and tourists alike.

Brian Sheldon, Regional Director at Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, said: “The chance to buy an established and highly-coveted hotel in the heart of Scotland’s golfing country, which captures local, national and international clientele, doesn’t come around very often. This is the first time the hotel has come on the market in 62 years: it’s an opportunity not to be missed.”

The Nether Abbey Hotel is on the market at  offers over £2,600,000 for the freehold going concern.
