The store is a well-established convenience shop which stocks and sells groceries and household goods, as well as offering Post Office services to the local community. The store is located on the main road through the village of Comberton on the outskirts of Cambridge.

A new lease for the store has been sold on behalf of the Patel family who, after owning and operating the store for 25 years, now wish to focus on other business ventures including property development.

The lease for the store has been sold to Mr Ratnam Sivaharan and his family, who have previous retailing experience. They plan to immerse themselves in the community and enhance the experience inside the shop.

Dipesh Patel commented, “We would like to thank our staff for all their help over the years, and our very loyal customers. We would also like to welcome Mr Sivaharan and his family to the local community. We are excited to see them bring new ideas and continue building on the customer experience.”

New owner Mr Sivaharan commented, “We are excited to take over this store from Dipesh and his family. We plan to grow the stock and range of products on offer, and we are looking forward to meeting our customers and settling into the community.”

Lewis Last, Associate Director – Retail at Christie & Co who handled the sale, said, “I’d like to congratulate Dipesh and his family on finding a tenant for their beloved store, which they have owned and operated for over 25 years. I wish them all the best for their new ventures.

“I’d also like to congratulate Mr Sivaharan. I’m excited to see him and his family implement their new ideas whilst building on the existing relationships the Patel family had already established within the local community.

“The deal was not without its challenges, but both buyer and seller remained dedicated to the cause and with the help of solicitors and brokers, we were able to see it over the line. No doubt this will be a positive outcome for the community, and I look forward to visiting the store again in the future.”

Insurance for the store was also secured through Christie Insurance. Gage Burgess, Account Executive – New Business, said, “It was a pleasure to deal with Mr Sivaharan on the insurance arrangements for the store. I wish him and his family every success in the future and will be delighted to help on any future needs.”
