Popular convenience store and post office in Toft acquired by new operator

Open seven days a week, the shop sells a wide range of products, including groceries, chilled and frozen products, and everyday essentials as well as stocking a popular selection of unique South African food lines. The business also offers services such as the National Lottery and post office services to the local community.

Occupying a prominent position on High Street in the village of Toft, approximately six miles west of Cambridge, The Toft Shop benefits from consistent local footfall, owing to its central village setting and its role as a key community hub.

Justin and Jenny Orange, who owned and ran the store for over a decade, have now sold the business due to retirement.

They said, “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our incredible staff, past and present, whose dedication, passion, and commitment have been the foundation of the Toft Shop’s success. We are equally grateful to our loyal customers and the wider Cambridge community for their continued support and trust.

“We are delighted to be handing over to Sultan, whose vision for the shop aligns strongly with the values we have worked hard to build. His plans to develop the offering and enhance the overall customer experience will ensure that the Toft Shop continues to thrive and evolve. We are excited to see the next phase of its journey and have no doubt it will go from strength to strength.”

The new operator of store, Sultan Hassan, said, “I am incredibly honoured to be taking ownership of the Toft Shop in Cambridge and would like to sincerely thank Justin and Jenny Orange for building such a fantastic business with a strong reputation, loyal customer base, and dedicated team. Their hard work and passion have created something truly special, and I am privileged to continue their legacy.

My aim is to build on the excellent foundations already in place, while introducing enhancements that further improve the customer experience and ensure the business continues to grow and evolve.”
