The George & Dragon

Dating back to the 15th century, the pub boasts charming, authentic character, with original timber beams, exposed brickwork, and a large fireplace that creates a cosy, inviting atmosphere.

Situated just off the A146 in the village of Thurton, the bar and restaurant has 40 covers for informal dining and features a versatile barn-style function room, a spacious beer garden and terrace, a car park, and three-bedroom staff accommodation.

Having owned the pub for over 30 years, Patrick Mann was looking for a new tenant to take over the day-to-day running of the pub.

The new operator of The George & Dragon, Bipinkumar Gurjar, plans to continue the existing wet pub trade as well as introduce an Indian cuisine offering in the kitchen.

Hugo Fairbanks Weston, Business Agent – Pubs & Restaurants at Christie & Co commented, “This was a great deal for everyone involved and completed within just three months of the deal being agreed.

“We managed to secure the landlord a new tenant to go into the pub the same week his previous tenant left, avoiding any period of the pub being vacant. We wish the new tenants the best of luck with their new venture.”

The lease for The George & Dragon was sold at an undisclosed sum, off a guide price of £40,000.
