The pub has been named Best Pub at the Scottish Thistle Awards 2023, 2024 and again in 2025 after representing the South of Scotland at the national finals. Surrounded by rolling hills picturesque countryside, the pub is at the heart of the valley’s vibrant community and has become a destination for visitors and tourists. Owners Rory and Vicki Steel rescued the pub from closure in and revitalised it for the community, with a strong ethos of working with local suppliers and brewers.
