The business comprises three specialist care settings – Millbrook House, The Coach House and The Old Bakery – which collectively offer 19 bedrooms across a range of residential and bespoke care provisions for children and young people.
Millbrook House occupies a period property, originally dating back to the eighteenth century, and has been extended over time to provide self-contained accommodation designed to promote independence. The Coach House occupies a large, detached property, while The Old Bakery comprises a converted and refurbished detached home providing adapted accommodation for specialist care.
The properties are all located on a single site on Manchester Road in Hollingworth, within the High Peak District of Derbyshire, offering a peaceful, semi-rural setting with good access to nearby towns and Manchester.
Since it was established in 2010, Enabling Futures has developed a good reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred care, working closely with multiple local authorities and NHS commissioning groups across the North West and Midlands.
The business has been owned by James and Carol Wardle and Alan Dornan since 2010 and was brought to market due to retirement.
Following a confidential sales process with Julie Kitson from Christie & Co, the business has been sold to John Farragher of Potensial Ltd (trading as Potens), an established operator with 52 specialist care services across the UK.
John Farragher, Chairman at Potensial Ltd, comments, “This is a lovely addition to our portfolio of homes in the North West of England. It was a pleasure working with James, Carol and Alan, and I wish them all a happy retirement.”
Julie Kitson, Director – Care and Specialist Childcare at Christie & Co, comments, “I was very pleased to be instructed to sell Enabling Futures, having visited the home many years prior. Since being established in 2010, the business offers excellent care for children and young adults and has benefited from consistently high occupancy levels. It was great having been able to assist Potens in adding another business to their portfolio and wish them every success for the future.”
Enabling Futures Limited was sold for an undisclosed price.
