Durham day nursery has been sold for the first time to operator

Established in 2014 as Britain’s first nursery founded on a musical approach, Do Re Mi Day Nursery is a multi-award-winning, ‘Outstanding’ rated setting which favours a child-led, creative approach to the delivery of EYFS where learning through play, discovery, and hands-on experience is crucial. It also aims to work in partnership with parents to ensure that home routines are followed, and children feel comfortable and safe in the nursery environment.
The setting has capacity for up to 74 children aged zero to five years and is located on City West Business Park in a small village in County Durham, a couple of miles South-West of the city centre - an ideal location for both local parents and those commuting into the area for work.
The business was founded by exiting owner, Jane Todd, who recently decided to sell due to relocation. Following a sale process with Christie & Co, it has been purchased by award-winning operator, Kids Planet, and marks the group’s 155th setting.
Jane Todd, former owner of Do Re Mi Day Nursery Ltd, comments, “Do Re Mi has been a very important part of my family's life. We set the nursery up from scratch, all our three children have attended, we have expanded twice, received an 'Outstanding' grade from Ofsted, and achieved our Curiosity Approach Accreditation. I am so proud of what has been achieved, and the amazing staff team who are so hard-working and passionate about early years education. It is for that reason that it has been an incredibly hard decision to pass the baton on. We have entrusted Kids Planet with the next stage of Do Re Mi's journey, I am sure they will continue with the high-quality care and education that has been instilled and look after our staff and families. The support that Vicky from Christie & Co has provided in the process has been invaluable, and we are very grateful to her.”
