Community pharmacy in Angus joins growing Davidsons Chemists group

Edzell Pharmacy is a standard-hours community pharmacy which dispenses an average of 4,961 NHS items per month and offers additional services including Pharmacy First Plus, weight loss medication, and vitamin B12 replacement. It also provides monitoring dosage systems for approximately 50 patients at a nearby 55-bed care home.

The business occupies the ground floor of a mid-terraced, two-storey property and benefits from a modern fit-out, a consultation room, and a position close to Edzell Health Centre. It is located on High Street in the centre of Edzell, a picturesque village approximately five miles north of Brechin in Angus, and there are no other pharmacies within six miles.

The business was brought to market by the former owner, John Fowlie, who had owned the pharmacy since July 2014 and decided to sell to concentrate on his other three branches in the north of Scotland.

Following a confidential sales process with Karl Clezy at Christie & Co, Edzell Pharmacy has been purchased by Davidsons Chemists, bringing its portfolio to 58 pharmacies across Scotland.

John Fowlie, the former owner of Edzell Pharmacy, comments, “I have enjoyed owning Edzell Pharmacy for the last 12 years but, with my other branches being based further north, I wanted to concentrate on that area going forward.”

Edzell Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
