Situated on Bat and Ball Lane in the historic market town of Farnham, the Bat & Ball is a popular “destination” pub, with an excellent reputation amongst locals and customers from the surrounding areas. The pub is well known for its hosting of various local events, including live music, quizzes and beer festivals.

The longtime family-run business is currently owned and operated by couple Elizabeth and Matthew Cank.

Elizabeth comments, “The Bat and Ball has been in our family for 21 years. Originally purchased by my parents in 2003, who then handed the reins over to us in 2014 when they retired. After managing the pub for them for four years, we then purchased the business in 2018 and have been building on our family’s legacy ever since, going from strength to strength, even throughout covid.

“The Bat and Ball is a real hub of the community where people of all ages and from all walks’ of life come and meet, supporting our events including our infamous Batfest beer festival. It is what a true public house should be; a place to meet for any occasion with great beer and fantastic food. It has not been an easy decision to place The Bat and Ball for sale, however, we need to move to Devon to be with family and start a new life there with our daughter. We are looking forward to our future down in Devon and hope to find another exciting opportunity in hospitality once there.”

Neil Morgan, Senior Director at Christie & Co who is handling the sale, comments, “Back in 2003 I was really delighted to have sold the pub to the family in 2003, and I am now fortunate enough to now market the Bat and Ball on their behalf 21 years later. Through their long-term ownership, they have built the business to the success it is today and is one of Farnham’s most known and popular pubs. The successful purchasers will be inheriting a healthy and consistent level of trade.

“I anticipate good levels of interest in what is a rare opportunity to acquire a freehold pub/restaurant in one of the most affluent counties in the UK.”
