The former children’s play centre, set within the picturesque Devon countryside and located just off the B3181, has been acquired by The Outdoors Group, the outdoor learning specialist for forest schools, alternative education and adult training, who operate nearly a dozen sites across Devon.
Tom Lowday, Co-CEO of The Outdoors Group, commented, “We are delighted to have purchased Bear Town, Cullompton, and are excited about its future. The site will continue to be a place where young people can flourish, grow, and thrive.
“We currently have a planning application in place to change the use of the site so that it can become the home of our independent special school, supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Through a tailored curriculum and individualised support, we aim to help every young person achieve their potential and build a positive future.
“Alongside our educational provision, we are also looking to expand our training and events offer at the site. We hope this will create opportunities to bring people together, deepen conversations around education, and strengthen collaboration across our community as we work collectively to improve outcomes for all young people.”
