Grand Hotel Europa in Innsbruck to be revived under NH Collection

The future operator of the renowned Grand Hotel Europa in Innsbruck has now been confirmed: owner Dr Ernst Hutterer will revive the historic property together with Minor Hotels, a global hospitality leader with more than 640 hotels, resorts and branded residences in operation and under committed development across 63 countries. A long-term agreement has been concluded for the hotel’s operation.  The property will undergo substantial refurbishment with reopening planned for 2029 and will feature approximately 120 rooms.

Built in 1869, the property was Innsbruck’s first luxury hotel and remains one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Positioned directly opposite the central train station, it quickly became a distinguished meeting place for aristocrats, business leaders, artists and international travellers. In 1883, the hotel added its celebrated Barocksaal (Baroque Salon), which went on to host receptions, balls and social gatherings and events. Over the years, the hotel has welcomed notable guests including Queen Elizabeth II, Albert II of Monaco and The Rolling Stones.
