Alongside the petrol station, the site has a small shop selling parts, tools and accessories for cars, as well as confectionary and soft drinks, and a workshop/garage. The sale of the site presents an opportunity for a new operator to continue decades of trusted trade, with the potential to expand the convenience retail offering and modernise the store.

The petrol station and garage has been owned and managed by Ian and Diane Harrison since 1966 and is now on the market as they wish to retire after sixty years at the helm.

They commented, “After nearly 60 years at the garage, it is with a heavy heart that we’ve decided to retire and let a new generation bring new life to the garage. Over the years, we’ve built up a loyal base of dedicated customers, to the point where we struggle to meet demand on the workshop side.  We know there is huge potential for the site, such as for a convenience store or expanded workshop operation. We are committed to ensuring the garage continues to be able to serve the community and will support any new owner as much as required to ensure the transition is as smooth and successful as possible.”

Andrew Birnie, Director at Christie & Co, is managing the sale process and commented, “The market for going concern petrol forecourts is extremely competitive. This garage is located on a busy road and benefits from regular trade from local residents and commuters throughout the year, as well as seasonal peaks during the holiday months, from visitors coming to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

“We expect this site will appeal to existing forecourt operators looking to expand their site numbers, but it is also within the first-time buyer price range for new operators, as well as being an interesting prospect for alternative use development. Our clients are ready to retire after serving the community for many years and we look forward to finding the right buyer to take Hinderwell Filling Station forward.”

The site is on the market with a freehold asking price of £400,000. For more information, visit the property page here: https://www.christie.com/6411159/
