Owner of the hotel, James Moffett, said, “My ex-wife and I bought Biggin Hall Farm in 1974 and, after undertaking a large renovation, started to take in guests in 1980. Over these past decades, the business has evolved without losing its essential character.
“The business is thriving with staff regularly praised for their standard of service, but I was 87 in February and have reluctantly come to accept that I no longer have the energy I once had, which may be needed to further develop the business and weather whatever challenges may lie ahead.
“I have derived much pleasure from seeing the business grow, and I will be sad to leave. I hope the future owner will share my values of respecting a charismatic part of England’s architectural heritage and extending a true welcome to those who stay here as guests.
