The historic pub, which has been temporarily closed since December 2024, features exposed oak beams and inglenook fires as well as seating for around 50 people across the restaurant and bar area.
The traditional country pub also boasts a south-facing patio dining area, with a wood-fired pizza oven and Argentinian grill with seating for a further 36 guests.
Located in the north of the Cotswolds and in the heart of the village of Ratley, the pub benefits from a local community of residents and is well-positioned for visitors to the area's tourist attractions.
The pub’s former owners, Mark and Vanessa Petterson, said, “Having saved it from permanent closure over 12 years ago, we are happy to hand this wonderful pub to the next custodians. I am sure the local community will support Norm and Dee and we wish them well”
New owners, Norm and Dee Knight-Barrett, are committed to reopening the property as a pub and returning it to the heart of the local community.
They commented, “Following a short period of closure for renovation work, we are really looking forward to opening the doors of our traditional 'pie & a pint' pub serving good beer, beverages and pies to the lovely village of Ratley and beyond."
Jonty Green, Business Agent – Pubs & Restaurants at Christie & Co, who handled the transaction, added, “I am delighted to have completed on The Rose & Crown, another example of a closed pub being purchased with the intention to re-open as a pub. I look forward to seeing the new custodians reopen this hidden gem of a pub.”
The Rose & Crown was sold at an undisclosed sum, off a freehold asking price of £360,000.
