Trouville Hotel

Originally converted from a terrace of seafront houses in 1832, the Trouville Hotel is located on the East Coast of the Isle of Wight, and over the years has built a renowned reputation on the Island for dancing holidays. The hotel features 88-ensuite bedrooms, an extensive bar and a restaurant with panoramic sea views over the English Channel. The hotel also features what is reputably considered the Islands’ largest ballroom.

This highly successful hotel, set in a prominent position on Sandown’s seafront, has been independently owned and operated by the Moorman family for over 45 years. They have been responsible for substantially upgrading the Hotel’s facilities and expanding the range of services on offer to guests widening the Hotel’s customer base.

Paul Moorman, comments on the sale, “The family bought the hotel 45 years ago and have enjoyed working in this beautiful seaside location. The business has brought us significant repeat patronage from both private and group business throughout our tenure. We have decided to retire and to hand over the successful business to a new owner to take to the next level.”

The hotel has been acquired by  Compass Hospitality and Seacare Hospitality in a joint venture.

Manpreet Kaur, a spokesperson for Compass Hospitality, comments, “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of our first hotel in Sandown, home to one of the most popular beaches located in the Isle of Wight and an area celebrated for its distinctive landscapes and natural beauty. This investment marks an exciting milestone for Compass Hospitality as we expand into this new region, reinforcing our commitment to growing our portfolio of unique properties in the UK.”

Ed Bellfield, Regional Director at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments, “The sale of the Trouville Hotel represents an exceptional opportunity for the new owners to continue the hotel’s success. The hotel business benefits from significant repeat patronage and the outstanding reputation of the business is a testament to the continued re-investment and family stewardship over recent decades. We wish Paul and his family well on their retirement from the hotel business on the Island!”
